A Little cup of Sunshine

The perfect start to the day for your body.  Helps to rehydrate after 7-8hours of no liquids, a lovely dose of antioxidants, including vitamin C and minerals to nourish and a glass of water to rehydrate the cells.

If you have High Blood Pressure please leave the salt out.

Ingredients

  • 1 serving of Vitamin C
  • 1 tsp of the Celtic Sea Salt sole solution (salted water) – see below or ¼ tsp salt per 1litre
  • Squeeze of lemon juice – ½ slice – to taste
  • ½ a thumb of grated ginger (using a zester)
  • Some room temperature filtered water
  • Hot water
  • 1 large mug

Method

Make your Celtic Sea Salt (or Himalyan Sea Salt) Sole by taking a jar with a lid and filling it just about ¼ full of salt.  Then fill the rest with filtered water and shake periodically until the salt dissolves – there should be a little salt left as you will know that the mixture has reached saturation point.  This can be kept at room temperature and a teaspoon used as desired.

Add the first 4 ingredients to your mug, then add enough room temp water to fill 1/3 of your large mug and mix well.  Top up the rest of the mug with hot water. It is ready to drink immediately.  Enjoy – stirring every now and again if needed.

If you are finding this difficult to create as a new habit, then try preparing a little the night before so that it is effortless to make this your new morning ritual.  Take out the lemon and ginger out on a board with the grater next to your mug so you remind yourself to make this hydrating drink first.

Ideally leave 30 mins before drinking coffee or tea.  Remember for every coffee or tea you need to drink water to counter the diuretic effect.

Don’t forget to smile! It’s a new day and simply smiling (even grimacing!) can trigger endorphins to make you feel just a bit better.
